Sometimes aging can be a good thing.  It brings history, tradition, lasting memories, and more than all, it brings years of experience to make sure things are done right.  Being the oldest club at Smith Mountain Lake, The Waterfront Country Club opened in 1981, with the conception dating back to 1977.  This age allows The Waterfront to know how to make the club experience the best it can be.  This private golf community boasts 750 acres of breathtaking land and 8 1/2 miles of shoreline highlighted by a Championship Course that saw a complete fairway restoration and grass conversion in 2021 to Zeon Zoysia grass.  

The Waterfront, sitting on the north side of the Lake, is accompanied by a 22,000 sf Clubhouse that likewise saw many renovations in 2021, it has multiple courts in which to play racquet sports, a fitness facility, a 25 meter pool (and kiddie pool), as well as some of the best cuisine anywhere at Smith Mountain Lake and beyond.  The Waterfront Community provides you with all the comforts one could desire with a full calendar of events at the Club being offered year round.  The Clubhouse complex features a men's and women's locker room, a fully stocked golf shop, multiple dining options, two indoor bars, an outdoor patio that also allows for dining and summertime music, an outdoors sports / tv sitting area, a ballroom where our Members listen to live music and dance, as well as all the amenities that any club could provide.  Situated directly to the left of the 18th green, the Clubhouse provides an amazing view of Members finishing a round or working on their putting on the practice green.  Whether it's looking outside or in, The Waterfront provides the experience Members anticipate as they enjoy a post-round cocktail, dinner with friends or family, or the challenges of any of the outdoor sports that we offer.
