The Waterfront Country Club's Response to Pandemic
UPDATED MARCH 31, 2020:
We’d like to thank our members for your gracious support of the Club while we make our best effort at serving you during this unprecedented time. If you have been away for the winter and are returning from another area of the country, especially one that has been heavily impacted by Covid-19, we must strongly advise that you self-monitor and avoid contact with others for two weeks as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. Please know that we are grateful for your membership and that we respect your place in our community, and that our main priority is doing our part to keep everyone in our community safe and healthy.
Effective April 1, the doors to the Main Office will be closed to the public, as we have many staff members who are teleworking. A dropbox is available at the door for member payments, and you can still make appointments with Member Services Director Ruth Rice by calling 540-721-5288, extension 111, or emailing email@example.com.
A stay-at-home order issued Monday, March 30, 2020, by Governor Ralph Northam states that people should only leave their homes to obtain food, supplies or medical care, or for exercise. During Northam’s news conference, a reporter asked him if golf is considered exercise. His answer was yes.
Golf allows physical activity with the added bonus – in these strange times of social distancing – of permitting ample space between players.
Under this guidance, The Waterfront Country Club golf course will remain open to members as much as possible to enable you to get outside in nature, de-stress, and enjoy the game of golf. Following are the details of our current operations as the Club, as allowed by the government of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Dining is only available to-go, for curbside pickup, and to golfers on the course. We are now open on Tuesdays until 7 p.m. As a reminder, to-go orders will apply toward monthly minimums until further notice.
Hours for to-go orders will be the following until further notice:
Tuesday - Saturday: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
The Golf Range and Course remain open until further notice, adhering to the requirements of social distancing.
Hours: Tuesday - Sunday 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Carts hold a maximum of two riders. We have relaxed the rule requiring folks to double up in carts, so you can request one person per cart. Carts are disinfected after each use. Golfers are naturally spaced apart as you work your way down the course.
We ask that golfers throw away your scorecards and pencils after your round. We have removed all bunker rakes, ball washers, water coolers, divot repair boxes and trash cans, so you should be able to play a round of golf without touching anything besides your clubs and cart.
Our Golf staff is staging carts at a safe distance apart and is disinfecting carts after every use. Carts will be available to single riders, and couples may share a cart. The requirement to use carts before 2 p.m. is waived until further notice, and the walking trail fee is also waived until further notice.
We encourage you to call ahead for tee times to help us plan for each day. The Pro Shop phone number is 540-721-2653.
The fitness center is closed until further notice effective March 25, 2020.
The courts remain open for use, with check-in as usual at the Pro Shop. Please keep a respectful distance of other players.
Thank you for your support and understanding of our policies. Please do not go out unnecessarily, but know that our course is here for your physical health and mental well-being. Stay aware of your surroundings and actions to keep yourself safe when you need to venture out.
